Cooking Tips For Thanksgiving Dinner

While planning dinner for Thanksgiving, it is important that the food items can accommodate easily in one dinner plate. The items should visually look very appealing and also have different tastes to cater to the needs of all your guests. If the guests you are inviting have special dietary requirements, plan it well while deciding on the menu. The table should have the festive look with good cutleries containing silverware, dinnerware and glassware.

Try and choose food items that would taste good at room temperature. Have a combination of appetizer, good variety of side dishes and also a few options for the dessert. Consider including frozen foods such as pastries, cookies or cakes so that you need not prepare all dishes and stress yourself on the final day.

Order fresh turkey or buy frozen turkey to make your shopping easier and plan in such a way that the guests can also enjoy the other items prepared by you. You can prepare the garnishing items before the thanksgiving dinner day to avoid last minute rush. Also distribute the shopping days by buying imperishable foods at least a week ahead.

If you are planning on a buffet for dinner, avoid serving soups. If you plan to serve wine for the adult guests, do not leave the children out. Plan to also serve apple juice or sparkling cider which generally most children would love. There may be even guests who may prefer not to have alcoholic beverages. You can plan iced tea, flavored water or fresh fruit juices to add variety.
